In the book of Col 3:1-14 we learn a lot about Self-Discipline; and this is a fruit of the Spirit that many people battle with. And as Joyce always says: the Battle begins in the mind.
Whatever it is that you are trying to do in life; you need to understand that if you want change, you must make a decision that you are going to do your best to work hard at doing the changes. Scientists say it takes 21 days for someone to fall into another pattern or new way of life…
If you want improvement in your life you must understand that it will happen on the inside, and then only show on the outside later. Permanent change in your life-style will take much hard work and effort to see it through. You must start by changing the way you think (your thinking pattern). You must focus on positive things and get rid of negative feelings and ideas.
Remember that you made a choice to better yourself, therefore forget about the old things, and focus on the new ideas and form habits that is difficult to break. Always remember who you are in Christ and do not let anyone break you down;cast you out; degrade you; abuse you physically or mentally; or do things to you that will not please God. Stand your ground at all times, even when it seems hard to do. God is faithful and will lift you up when you stand for Him and not against Him. Discipline yourself and trust God to help you!
JESUS IS OUR LEADER
In this world that we live in there is no-one greater than Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior; He is superior to anything or anybody living on this earth, in the Heavens, or under the Earth. He is an amazing Christ! His truths are greater than anything else that exists in this earth.
In Christ dwells the FULLNESS of God; the FULLNESS of the bodily Godhead: Father, Son and Holy Spirit… and that is what is living inside of you! Do you realize with what power you are walking around with? You have the power, the skills, the abilities, the strength, the know-how to do what you need to do to get rid of any problem, or situation or circumstance that are keeping you in bondage.
God is not only our Leader, He is also the one that guides us by His Holy Spirit, His decision making is pure, direct, true, and holy. His wisdom guides us through life on every level we need to be. He is our source of Power every minute of every day!
His love for us in immeasurable… do you feel that nobody loves you today? Read the Word of God in Colossians Chapter Two… read also the book of 1,2,3 John. He is the One that gives us peace when we need it; and hopeless situations, we find that He lifts us up and in the midst of stress. He is the One that blesses us with His shalom peace, that surpasses all human understanding. His super-natural Leadership helps us and gives us everything we need to be able to live like Jesus did on the earth.
We can do all He did and more – John 14:12.…. do you believe it? That is the Question?
I trust that this message will make you think about Jesus, your Lord and Savior. You can read more about Jesus in the Book of Collossians, under our TEACHINGS Page, under the Heading: ” BIBLE-BOOK TEACHINGS”. I want to challenge you to read the Book of COLLOSSIANS this week, and see the beautiful promises that God has given us in this amazing Book.

RAHAB KNEW THE WAY
Scripture: Joshua 2:9-11 “And she said to them, I know that the Lord has given you the land and that your terror is fallen upon us and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you. For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea for you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites…, whom you utterly destroyed. When we heard it, our hearts melted; neither did spirit or courage remain any more in any man because of you, for The LORD YOUR GOD, HE IS GOD IN HEAVEN ABOVE AND ON EARTH BENEATH”.
Rahab was a Sinner! She was a Prostitute, but in the Bible times they called her a harlot. In other words, she was a bad woman who used to sleep with men for money. But this doesn’t make her any worse than you or me. Since the Bible says that there is no SMALL or BIG sin. SIN is SIN! Whether you are a prostitute or a thief; a prostitute or a murderer; a prostitute or a liar a prostitute or a person with pride! Remember the book of Proverbs talk about too much Pride before you fall so therefore Pride is also sin in God’s eyes. God is the one who judges your sin. He told Moses “I will decide upon whom I will bestow mercy”. Look at Moses who once was a murderer and then became a deliverer of the Israelite Nation! There is no sin, big or small – Rahab was a “bad girl”… who were you before the Lord saved your life?
In v 9-11 something happened to Rahab. She HEARD and the fear of God fell upon her. Prov. 1:7 says “The reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord is the beginning and the principal and choice part of knowledge; Godly wisdom and discipline!” (Amp). Look at what she says in v11, “When we heard…our hearts melted …“ They were so scared their spirit and courage left them. Let me tell you one thing, when a sinner starts to realize who God is then there is Salvation on the way for that sinner!
Look at Rahab’s declaration in v11: THE LORD YOUR GOD, HE IS GOD OF HEAVEN AND EARTH! She Heard something. Her faith in this God that she didn’t know brought her Righteousness before God. She proclaimed that this unknown God, is the one and only true God even though she didn’t even know Him (See Luke 15:7). Rahab discovered that she HEARD something that brought terror in her life regarding a great God of the Israelites and her Hearing brought FAITH (Rom 10:17), and through her faith she received Salvation. Today Rahab is in the cloud of witnesses (Hebr. 11:31 – prompted by faith Rahab the prostitute was not destroyed). Because of her believe – See James 2:25 “So also with Rahab the harlot – was she not shown to be justified, pronounced righteous before God, by good deeds when she took in the scouts? This prostitute had no knowledge of who God was, she only Heard and she Believed! There is no sin too big or small for JESUS to forgive.
The singer, Don Francisco sings a song : “I don’t care where you’ve been sleeping, I don’t care who’s made your bed, I already gave my life to set you free…” etc. NO bed is too dirty for Jesus to clean. Today this prostitute is a righteous woman, sitting in the cloud of witnesses, an honourable place! Jesus reminded the Pharisees that prostitutes, liars and sinners will inherit the Kingdom of God even before some of them will. This goes to show that Jesus came for sinners, not for the rich and educated..
Rahab was not only a prostitute, she was also a liar ! Look at v6 – she lied to the King to save the two men. She was a saviour of the children of God! She inherited a characteristic of Jesus Himself. Saviour! She put her own life in danger to save these two men because of what she heard! She feared their God! She could have been killed for lying to the King, but she shows her boldness in her new believe and promptly lied to save their lives. Because of what she heard, she learned something about this God of the Israelites, and she saw that He was a Saviour of His people. She noticed that when you are with this God, you are saved from the enemy. So then she asked if this God would save her and her family too?
Do you know what she was actually doing? She was asking HOW TO GET SAVED? She questioned these men about the Gospel of Jesus Christ (Matt. 26:28). She received some knowledge regarding their Saviour God, and she wanted the same thing. She heard that God made a covenant with His people to give them the land, so she made a Covenant with God’s children – because she had faith in this unknown God. She BELIEVED that she would get saved too.
Not only did she want to get saved herself but she also asked regarding her family. Note here, that she realized that a covenant with this God ALWAYS included the descendants. She must have heard about the promise made to Abraham, Izak, Jacob and their children. And their children were still alive, so she realized that this God kept His promise! Her faith in Him was so strong that she believed he would also save her family with her. So she inquired from them; and even went so far as to ask for a sign in v12.
Luke 12:8 tells us that if you confess towards someone who God is and that you believe Him, trust Him and rely on Him for everything; then Jesus will also confess before the Father who you are! This is what happened to Rahab. She confessed openly who God was – she realized He was the Saviour of the World. She helped the spies through the window. A window in spirit always talks about “Revelation Knowledge”. Rahab received a revelation of the Christ – the promise that was to come – the Saviour of the world. If u had ever studied the “Tabernacle of Moses” by Benny Hinn you would know that the red rope she used represented the blood of Jesus Christ. This red line from her window meant exactly the same thing as the Red blood on the doorposts of the Israelites when they were about to leave Egypt. Rahab got revelation knowledge regarding the coming Saviour (through the blood – the LAMB that was to be sacrificed), and she believed it. This revelation saved her and also her whole family with her. God’s promises are always true and faithful! The moment Rahab put that red line on her window, she received her salvation.
In v16 she “shows them THE WAY”. She had the prophetic gift of spiritual sight. She knew in that moment that she was saved and showed her brothers in Christ something that she came to know. “THE WAY” is the words used to describe the first Christians in the New Testament. Rahab had already received the revelation, and pointed them to the Mountain for 3 days. She showed them “THE WAY”. A sinner, a prostitute became righteous before God in that moment and showed them where to go. She built their faith in their own God and encouraged them. Note how she tells them that the people in the city have fear of their God. This gives them hope! Imagine if she had said: “We are not scared” surely these two men would have gone back to Joshua saying something to the effect that they are not scared. They would not have had the boldness they had upon their return to Joshua (v24) had it not been for her. Her actions was saying “Let me teach you something of the fear I have for YOUR God!” Yesterday she was the enemy and today she became a righteous woman before God. She received Salvation through her faith in what she heard! And she put her believe into action. Rahab is mentioned in the family line of Jesus Christ (Matt 1:5). Through listening what she HEARD, she stepped into eternity with Jesus Christ and is now in the cloud of witnesses.
I would like to encourage you today to get a spirit of Rahab (Not the old spirit), but the NEW Spirit which gave her access into the cloud of witnesses! If u think that God cannot use you because you are a sinner, think again! You are not so insignificant that Jesus cannot use you. God has a plan and a purpose for your life! It doesn’t make a difference where you have been, it doesn’t matter what you have done! Jesus always mixed with the sinners because He loves them (Mark 2:17). He hates the sin they committed, but He loved the sinners! He loves you too. God made a Covenant with Rahab. She received Eternal Life – her inheritance. Jesus left you a Testament. If u had not yet received your inheritance, today is your chance! Allow me to be your Rahab this morning to SHOW YOU “THE WAY”.
If you are a believer, I want to ask you to phone someone you know and encourage them a little, remind them of the great God we have; remind them of the blood; encourage them about their God; help them to get the Fear of God back in their lives so they can realize how great a God we have. Encourage them, lift them up, give them hope, SHOW THEM THE WAY! He still uses ex-thieves, ex-prostitutes, ex-murderers, ex-liars, etc. today to preach His Gospel of Salvation through the blood of the Cross. Don’t hesitate, PLEASE allow someone to show you “THE WAY”.
